As another holiday season is now upon us, it’s time to start thinking about decorating your home to make things “merry and bright.” But, while bright lights and inflatable figures in the front yard might cause passersby to take a quick peek, how can you really make your home stand out?
According to House Beautiful, there are a myriad of ideas – even if you’re on a tight decorating budget.
One strategy is to weave non-holiday colors into your overall décor. For instance, while red and green are more traditional colors for the season, try incorporating a splash of pink or blue – or both – to really make the decorations pop.
Another cute idea is to temporarily swap out your regular mailbox with one that has a holiday theme. As an example, a bright red box with “Letters to Santa” written on the front can add a nice touch – and give your home some added curb appeal, too.
Likewise, placing some outdoor lanterns with lights or candles along the driveway or front sidewalk is a great way to make your home stand out. This can be particularly nice if you’re entertaining, as guests will be able to more easily spot the location.
On the inside, using fresh greenery to create the design of a Christmas tree or to spell out Happy Holidays will not only make for a cute decoration, but can also bring in a nice holiday scent.
