Late Summer Maintenance Projects that Can Improve the Look of Your Home All Year LongWhile it may be hard to believe, late summer is already upon us, and kids are getting ready to go back to school. But, that doesn’t mean that cooler weather is here just yet. So now can be a perfect time to tackle some home maintenance projects that can improve the look – and the efficiency – of your home.

One of the key to-dos is making sure that your home’s gutters are clean. This is especially important if your home is situated near or under pollinating trees. Keeping gutters free of any obstructions can help to prevent overflow when it rains, which can lead to leaks and other types of damage.

If you have any exterior lighting on your property, now can be a good time to clean these for optimum brightness. This includes wiping the glass free of dirt or other debris, and cleaning out any of the dead bugs that may have accumulated over time.

Another item to put at the top of the to-do list is replacing your home’s air conditioner filter. Doing so can help with keeping the air in the home clean and freely flowing throughout the property, providing you with better quality air throughout.

While replacing the A/C filter, it can also be beneficial to clean out the unit’s drain line. This can help to clear up any clogs that may have formed – which could and up causing water to back up in the A/C unit itself, or even into your home.

When in the system cleaning mode, you may also want to add removing any lint or other build up from your dryer vent, as well as cleaning the coils on your refrigerator. Doing so can not only reduce the likelihood of a clog, but can also end up saving you money on your utility bills.
